Requirements:  In order to gain the most out of the sessions, we request that the delegates remain on the course throughout and, where possible, a quiet area be allocated to save distraction.

Who is This Course For?

This Effective Mentoring course is aimed at all staff who have responsibility of developing and managing teams. The course is also suitable for first time mentors as well as those who already have experience mentoring.

Course Content

Delegates will explore the skills, behaviours and values essential to become an effective mentor. Utilising a range of interactive activities the course covers the essentials of mentoring and its application.

  • What is mentoring and how it can contribute to organisational and individual development
  • Mentoring values
  • What is self management and emotional intelligence
  • How to managing the mentoring process
  • How to establish ground rules and get the buy in from mentees
  • Individual mentoring style and its application
  • Understanding self-awareness and how it can enhance the mentoring relationship
  • The use of personality types, learning styles and mentoring
  • How to develop effective relationships
  • Identifying some drawbacks to mentoring and strategies to overcome these.
  • Key skills of a mentor- active listening and responding appropriately
  • How to guide the process of goal setting and action planning
  • How to use Reflective practice to evaluation the mentoring session.
