COURSE OUTLINE

Duration:   1 Day or a 3 hour refresher (please note the qualification requirement)

Delegates:   Up to 12

Assessment: Ongoing observation and end of session Activity. Each delegate will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Cost: Competitively priced and details are available upon request.

Requirements:  In order to gain the most out of the sessions, we request that the delegates remain on the course throughout and, where possible, a quiet area be allocated to save distraction.

Who is This Course For?

The Mental Capacity and deprivation of Liberties Safeguards course is aimed at All Care and Support Staff, including team leaders and Key workers. who are involved in provided support to Clients.

Course Content

The aim of the Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards course is to enable delegates to understand and be able to apply into the workplace, the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards.  It ensure that delegates fully understand and are able to apply the 5 principles of the Act into their day to day working practices in supporting residents.  As well as this, it explores implications of the deprivation of liberty standards and the legal requirements of the Act

It covers the following:

Outcomes:

  • Understand the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act and the DoLs.
  • How to apply the 5 principles of Mental Capacity Act to provide person centred care and support in line with the requirements of the Care Act.
  • How to obtain consent in people who lack capacity.
  • Understand the concept of best interest.
  • How the deprivation of liberties may apply to people supported.
  • Know where to go for more information.
  • The role of reflective practice to improve outcomes of intervention.
